mid-morning scare

Was about to sit in front of the laptop and do the usual Facebooking, Twittering, Gmailing, and of course, Blogging, when I heard the dogs howling. A shiver ran down my back as I heard more dogs join Jack and Fatty (owner's dogs) in their howling chorus. What was it that they were howling at? What was it they saw? Eep!

But then common sense knocked me in the head and said "Hellloooowww.. it's like 9:30 in the morning. The sun is blazing. Any demons would be burned to crumbs by now. Why are you having shivers you dumbass". So why are the dogs howling on this beautiful sunny morning? Of which I'm supposed to be in the office but have decided to just go in the afternoon hohoho.

That's when I heard the voice. Sounds like howling dogs too but this one is definitely human. It's slightly high-pitched and very loud. It repeats over and over again the few words. I can understand some, but some I can't quite make out what she's saying. Yes it's a female voice.

"Surat khabar lama!!! Old newspaper!!! [Insert chinese version here]!!!"

Damn dogs. They do that EVERY single time. Scare me with their dumb howling. And just because they want to imitate the old newspaper lady.

The old newspaper lady. Back in the days, these newspaper guys used to shout in their loud hailers. Now they just playback a recording of their voices into the hailer. Imagine how they'd record the playbacks. Ahahaaha..

"Old newspaper!!! Oh wait let's do that again my voice was a bit too screechy"
"Old newspaper!!! hmm.. should I say 'payperrr' or 'paype'..? Do it one more time"
"Old newspaper!!!"

Oh one last thing. My mom just accepted a free-lance job as a columnist with New Sarawak Times (previously known as Eastern Times). hehe.
