awal muharram

Selamat menyambut Awal Muharram everyone! For those who may not know, it is the Islamic New Year. The beginning of a new calendar for Muslims. Hmmm. Sooo.. I guess it's not too late to make some new year's resolution eh? Right. So let's start.

1. My new year's resolution for the new Muslim year is to be a more disciplined person. Wake up early. Exercise everyday (no matter how light / short the session). Eat moderately. While cooking yesterday and discussing healthy food, Beth wisely said: "I think ah, we shouldn't be so picky with food lo. We should eat moderately. If we eat too much of something ah, even if it's supposed to be good for the body, oso not good leh". Well said, Beth. Well said.

2. I would like to own a house by the end of the year. This was my resolution for 2010 (Gregorian calendar) but since I am unable to achieve it (unless I miraculously get / win / hijack a house by 31st December 2010), I guess I'd have to try it this year. I haven't devised a concrete strategy for this but I do have something in mind. Just gotta put it down on paper.

3. I would like to have at least ONE marketing idea for RHB Islamic Bank that would actually boost its brand image. Provided it is implemented, that is. But just to come up with an idea would be great. Something different from what other banks are doing. OR similar but more effective. Yea. So far, after some reading up and online researching, the Great Marketing Idea is still eluding me. But I do believe it will come soon. Ideas anyone?

I guess those are the more important ones that I would definitely work hard for. There are other minor ones such as improving my guitar-playing, reading more books, getting an iPod (hahaha), finishing my MBA (errr..minor resolution?? haha lucky Mummy doesn't read my blog), and cooking Briyani at least once for the officemates and friends.

If I can achieve ALL of the above, I'd be one happy speck in the universe.

Do you sometimes feel like you're just a tiny speck in this whole wide universe? Even in this big city (which is merely a slightly bigger speck in the universe), I feel like a tiny dot on the population statistic (if I even make a dot. I'm most probably a quarter of a dot in THAT dot). Haih. But it does give you a sense of freedom. It's like no one gives a shit damn what you do, what you think, or what your work attire is today. I mean who cares if you wore the same pants twice to work right? Does anyone care? Is it the end of the world? No. You don't matter. So wear those pants for the whole week if you like! Go ahead! Liberate yourself!!!!

Was jogging this morning and noticed how insignificant we can be sometimes. But it's not necessarily a bad thing. Insignificant does not mean our existence is useless. It just doesn't have a huge impact on a lot of people, that's all. But we do matter to those around us. Which is good enough. Or something. Do I make sense? Yadadadadadadadadadadddaaaaaaaaaaa...

Morning post-jog rambling. Haih. So I think I should shower and scrape off some of this dried sweat. Miss Beth is still sleeping. She woke up for a while and said "why am I sleeping on your side of the bed leh?" errrr......
